ALPHA X SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE FRANKFURT

ALPHA INDUSTRIES x SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE FRANKFURT | THE CULTURE

Frankfurt, 15 February 2024

Alpha Industries launches a small capsule collection in collaboration with the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt for the upcoming exhibition "The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century". The exhibition can be seen at the Schirn Kunsthalle from 29 February to 26 May 2024 and offers a comprehensive overview of the history of hip-hop and its diverse forms of expression.

"THE CULTURE" presents an impressive collection of over 70 works from international private collections and institutions, including well-known artists and pioneering hip-hop personalities. The exhibition, under the direction of the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) and Saint Louis Art Museum (SLAM) in the USA, will be presented exclusively at the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt in Europe. The realisation in Frankfurt will be led by Matthias Ulrich, an experienced curator at the Schirn Kunsthalle.

"The cooperation between Alpha Industries and the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt underlines our shared interest in innovative art and contemporary culture. We believe that hip-hop is not only a musical movement, but also a significant cultural force that has an impact on fashion, art and society as a whole." Matthias Schuebbe, Brand Director Alpha Industries Europe

The exhibition is divided into six sections, starting with language and its importance to hip-hop, followed by aspects such as hip-hop as a brand in fashion, physical jewellery, recognition of cultural influences, poses and models, and the social rise of hip-hop as a global culture.
