Bomber jackets and beer mats: how the Italians made a global icon unique.
Internationally known, locally respected.
The bomber jackets produced by Alpha Industries have crossed borders and eras: from Knoxville, Tennessee, to the world - including Italy. IUTER creates a capsule collection together with Alpha Industries and celebrates the way Italian street culture has appropriated that icon, starting from the 1990s. At that time it was easy to meet Alpha bomber jackets in the streets of Italy's cities, worn by boys and girls who customized them with various patches and - above all - by sewing on their backs the beer mats (small towels emblazoned with beer brands), usually stolen from the bars that used them.
From that memory originates a limited-edition collection featuring terry cloth maxi-patches which evoke the do-it-yourself patches made from bar towels. They are applied here on a classic CWU (Cold Weather Unit) 45 Flight Jacket, a heritage model made by Alpha since the 1970s.
The IUTER X Alpha Industries capsule includes a custom Alpha CWU-45 bomber jacket, plus several items designed and produced by IUTER in Italy: a hoodie, a T-shirt (both in three color variations) and a scarf. The IUTER X Alpha Industries collaborative collection will be available starting October 18, 2023 at www.iuter.com, www.alphaindustries.eu and at selected IUTER stockists.
